Tarlac State University (TSU) visited Central Luzon State University (CLSU) to benchmark best internationalization practices in the Technology, Livelihood, and Life Skills Education (TLLEd) program at CLSU’s College of Education (COED) today, March 10, 2024.
The visit began with a courtesy call to CLSU President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, followed by a meeting with Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco and COED Dean Dr. Florante P. Ibarra. During the session, the TSU delegation viewed a corporate video presentation on CLSU-COED’s programs, providing an overview of its educational offerings.
Dr. Elizabeth P. Balanquit, Associate Dean of TSU’s College of Education, led the delegation in discussions with key CLSU-COED officials and faculty members. The benchmarking session provided TSU with valuable insights into faculty and student mobility initiatives, as well as international collaborations that have strengthened CLSU’s academic programs.
Dr. Ma. Catalina D. Cadiz, department head of CLSU-COED’s TLLEd program, shared CLSU’s best practices in student and faculty mobility, emphasizing the university’s membership in the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) as a gateway to overseas opportunities. She emphasized the importance of international institutional memberships in expanding global partnerships.
Meanwhile, Dean Ibarra presented CLSU’s strategies for preparing graduates for professional success, highlighting the university’s specialized board exam review programs. He also introduced an initiative offering free review sessions to graduating students who achieve Latin honors.
CLSU VPAA Dr. Velasco expressed admiration for TSU, stating, “We look up to Tarlac State University. In fact, we also conduct benchmarking visits at TSU to learn from the best practices of our neighboring SUCs.”
The CLSU President reaffirmed the value of collaboration among SUCs, emphasizing, “SUC Presidents in the region frequently highlight the importance of sharing best practices. CLSU fully supports benchmarking initiatives.”
Both institutions welcomed the exchange of insights, reaffirming their commitment to regional and international academic excellence and ensuring that students benefit from top-tier educational resources and opportunities.
