Expanding opportunities for students and faculty, Tarlac State University (TSU) formalized a partnership with the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during a virtual ceremony held via Zoom, July 2, 2026.

The partnership establishes a three-year framework for academic and professional collaboration aimed at enhancing management accounting education, expanding international opportunities for students and faculty, and aligning TSU's academic programs with global industry standards.

Manzano, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Derick Figueroa, Dean of the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA); Dr. Ninez B. Tulo, Director of the Office of International Affairs and Linkages (OIAL); Dr. Henry Rufino, Director of the Office of Quality Assurance (OQA); and Asst. Prof. Jocelyn M. Meanwhile, the IMA delegation was led by Mr. Shawn Tan, IMA Asia Pacific (APAC) Deputy Director; Ms. Hanilore Fabul, IMA APAC Assistant Manager for Partnership and Chapter Relations; and Atty. Leo Yatco, Vice President for Professional Education of the IMA Philippines Chapter.

Among the key provisions of the agreement are three annual full CMA scholarships for outstanding TSU students, two scholarships for faculty members, complimentary IMA membership and teaching resources for a designated campus advocate, and collaborative initiatives such as seminars, research projects, and industry talks.

Highlighting the significance of the collaboration, TSU President Dr. Jasper Jay N. Mendoza reaffirmed the University's commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for its academic community.

"We commit to our students, to our faculty, and of course to IMA, by advancing academic excellence and preparing globally competitive graduates," he said.

Valid for an initial term of three years, the agreement reinforces TSU's continuing efforts to internationalize its academic programs and produce graduates equipped with globally recognized competencies. By combining the University's strong academic foundation with IMA's professional expertise and global network, the partnership is expected to expand learning and professional development opportunities for students and faculty while opening new pathways for international career advancement.
