BackTarlac State University, through the joint efforts of the Office of International Affairs and Linkages (OIAL) and the College of Engineering (COEng), formalized a partnership with the Australian Institute of Engineering (AIE), an Australia-based training organization, on July 31, 2025, via Zoom.
The memorandum of agreement outlines several areas of collaboration, including Joint Academic Review and Validation, Faculty and Staff Engagement, Global Exposure and Educational Visits, Exchange of Industry Insights, Mutual Promotion of Educational Opportunities, and Co-Branding and Visibility.
TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco and AIE Chief Executive Officer Mr. Sam Tyagi reaffirmed their commitment to the partnership, recognizing it as the beginning of a meaningful collaboration. Both expressed their intention to implement the agreed initiatives at the soonest possible time, noting that the partnership aims to create tangible benefits for students, faculty, and industry stakeholders.
Dr. Velasco highlighted that this collaboration supports TSU’s internationalization agenda and strengthens its reputation in the global academic community. Mr. Tyagi, in turn, emphasized AIE’s eagerness to work closely with TSU in bringing innovative, skill-based training to the Philippines.
The inclusion of AIE in TSU’s roster of international partners reflects the university’s continuing effort to strengthen its global presence, a goal increasingly recognized by other institutions eager to partner with TSU. This event highlights the role of OIAL and COEng in initiating linkages that create opportunities for international exposure and knowledge exchange.
Also present at the event were Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jasper Jay N. Mendoza, OIAL Director Dr. Grace N. Rosete, and COEng Dean Engr. Miriam S. Galvez, who each expressed optimism for the future projects that will emerge from this collaboration.
